Good Evening NB Families:

Today, we completed our second day of remote learning for our students.   It has been a very intense day for everyone. Even though our teachers are working from their homes and administrators and support staff are in the district, it is quite apparent that the business of schooling has been swift and comprehensive.   On behalf of the Board of Education, the administration, and faculty, I express sincere thanks and appreciation for your support in all our efforts to deliver meaningful learning experiences for our students as they remain home these next few weeks.

Yesterday afternoon, I took a quick walk through the High School West building and spoke with many of our teachers.  I decided to make a quick video to share our conversation. This video, NB: Dr. Sarruda shares a Glance at Our New Normal, March 16, 2020, is now posted on our website. As we explore these somewhat uncharted waters, be confident in knowing that our staff members have risen to the occasion, preparing quality learning opportunities through a variety of non-traditional instructional approaches. You and your children are not alone.   All that is great here at NB Nation is just a phone call or a click away. Stay connected. We have the tools and the technology. I’d like to share some communication strategies with you.

Teachers and students are connected and that’s the most critical relationship.  However, there are more tools being implemented to provide a broad overview of what’s happening at NB.  Many of our parents and students are on Twitter. As of this afternoon, there are 3,250 people following me @NBCSuper and NB Nation is managing over 50 Twitter accounts specific to school programs.   Are you and your children following us on Twitter? If you don’t have an account, this is the perfect time for you to start one. I’m certain your children can help you get started if you are having trouble.  Simply click on this link.   And of course, visit our web site at www.nburlington.com and be sure to follow us on Facebook as well.  Many of our families visit  these informative sites. If you’ll be joining for the first time, welcome!

I’ve seen how our teachers have been in touch with their students and they will be available to you regularly to provide quality instruction and support. Administrators and teachers are only an e-mail away, and as a district, we will make conscious efforts to make this as personalized an experience as possible for you and your children.

We have accepted the challenge and we will find success together. There has never been a stronger “Parent Teacher Student Connection.”

Sincerely,

James Sarruda, Ed.D.
