New Jersey State Assessments

New Jersey High School Graduation Testing Requirements

Start Strong Assessments
Grades 7-12
October 12, 13 and 14 (HS only) 2022
English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science

Grade 7 - ELA and Math
Grade 8 - ELA and Math
3 - Grade 9 - ELA, Math and Science
2- Grade 10 - ELA and Math
1- Grade 11 - Math if enrolled in Algebra I, Geometry or Algebra II
1- Grade 12 - Science

Provide schools and districts the flexibility to address students’ unique needs at the beginning of the school year. Computer-based with paper-based options for students with disabilities. Integrated assessment reports in the Parent Portal established for the NJSLA and paper copies of student ISRs in late Fall.

Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)

Grades 10 and 11 All Students; Grade 12 (Students who have not yet met graduation assessment requirement)

Results available in mid-December. 
Students must create a College Board account online to review scores.
Counselors review results with students during scheduling meetings.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA)
