Along with this, we will also be decorating the school with banners, posters and giving away FFA pins and pens. Music and facts regarding FFA will also be on the morning announcements.

National School Counseling Week

Feb. 6–10, 2023, is National School Counseling Week.  The theme for School Counseling Week 2023 is, “School Counselors: Helping Students Dream Big.”

During this week, please help highlight the unique contributions of school counselors, and the impact they have in helping students achieve success.

Northern Burlington Regional School District would like to recognize school counselors for being actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career and social/emotional development; and working with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves.

This time around, our homeroom period will not be part of the students’ period 1-2 class. Some club homerooms will be available as well as grade level homerooms. We are currently planning valuable activities for homeroom during those four days. Student homeroom assignments will be in the grade level Google Classrooms.

The lunch period will not be divided by grade level this time. All students will be eating lunch at one time. The following areas will be available for students to eat lunch: Main Cafe, West Cafe, East Cafe, Main Foyer and the auditorium (room 404).  Lunch is from 10:28-11:38. There will be different offerings in some of the cafeterias and that specific information will be available to students before February 28.

Students will not be assigned “opportunity periods” following lunch. However, students will need to be in a location of their choice by 11:05 - NO EXCEPTIONS. Choices will include: meeting with a teacher, meeting with a club/activity advisor, working quietly in a classroom (study hall), working out in the fitness center (limited number of students), being engaged in an activity in one of the gyms or the auditorium (404).  Students may also remain in one of the cafeterias if they prefer, but all students must be in a location by 11:05 and not wandering the halls. Teachers will be communicating with students regarding their availability.

SAT Prep Program Registration

NB’s own 6-week SAT Prep program continues in-person on Saturdays from March 11- April 29, 2023.  The program is contingent on sufficient enrollment of at least 17 students. An afternoon session will be added if needed to meet all registration requests. The registration deadline is Monday, March 6, 2023, 2023 SAT Prep Program Registration.

Advanced Placement Updates

As the testing dates draw near, here are some reminders:

  • Students can check if they are registered for a test by logging into MyAP Classroom. If they paid for an exam in Total Registration, but it states in MyAP Classroom that no exam has been ordered, contact Dr. Puente-Ervin as soon as possible.

  • It is not too late to order exams. The deadline for late registration is March 11. There is, however, a $40 late fee per exam. Please visit totalregistration.net if interested.

  • If you would like to cancel an exam and receive a partial refund, please log in to totalregistration.net as soon as the decision has been made. Refunds can be delayed if cancellations are made after March 11.

  • This year, we will be administering digital exams. Here's a useful video that explains the format of the digital exams: https://youtu.be/6RpFMnZGkhU

Any questions? Email Dr. Leslie Puente-Ervin at lpuente-ervin@nburlington.com

Morning Drop Off / Parking

Just a reminder that all student drop offs in the morning must be in the west lot by the west gym. When dropping off students in the morning, please do not pull into a parking spot.  These spots are assigned to seniors. When students’ spots are occupied, it results in confusion and issues for them. If you must park, please use the designated parking spots for visitors.

Winter Sports and Spectators

The high school winter sports seasons are underway.  While we appreciate the fact that there are students who want to show support for their classmates on the athletic teams, we are not equipped to provide supervision to students after school.  For those students who would like to attend a sporting event as a spectator, they must first go home and then return and provide their own transportation home.

Spring Sports Registration Is Now Open

If you already have an account, there is no need to create a new one.  Log in with your username and password to register your child for the 2023 Spring Sport Season.

A Message From Your Northern Nurses

Following data from the Burlington County Health Department, trends show we may expect an increase in the number of Flu, COVID and all respiratory infections after the holiday season.

Please do your part by carefully monitoring your student and keeping him/her home for any sick symptoms.

Worrisome symptoms are cough, fever, breathing difficulty AND 2 or more symptoms combined such as congestion, headache, sore throat, muscle aches etc.

Please do not send students with sick symptoms to school and either:

Take to your doctor for clearance OR

Use a home COVID test (ideally 1 negative test and a second 48 hours later)

AND - Please communicate with your student's school nurse.

We must track the number of COVID and Flu cases in our community and we will work with you and Administration to ensure students home sick have excused absences.

Burlington County began offering both the single COVID-19 test as well as a combined COVID-19/Flu test at the testing site at Willingboro Towne Center, 4390 Rt 130 North, Willingboro,  Test results are generally back within 48 hours. Insurance information is collected, but people without insurance are still eligible for testing.

Please see attached flyer
