AP Reminder

Don't miss the November 11 deadline! Students who are planning to take an AP exam in May 2023 must log in to www.totalregistration.net and register and pay for exams by 11/11/22. Unpaid registrations will be canceled by this date. After this date, registrations will incur a $40 late fee per exam. Deadline for late registration is March 8, 2023. November 11 is also the last day to cancel exams without incurring a $40 cancellation fee. Contact Dr. Leslie Ervin at Lpuente-ervin@nburlington.com if you have any questions.

Federal Impact Aid Survey

We continue to collect Federal Impact Aid Surveys.  If your child has not submitted one, please anticipate that we will contact you or your student to remind them.  This is an important source of our school’s funding.  We appreciate your support in this regard.

We have selected  a  student  from each class, at random, out of the names of families who have completed their FIA Survey to win a gift certificate to the school store!  Congratulations to all the students who have won so far!

Parent Conferences

Parent conferences are scheduled for November 16, 17, and 18.  The schedule is as follows:

November 16  12:40 pm - 2:40 pm

November 17 12:40 pm - 2:40 pm and 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

November 18 12:40 pm - 2:40 pm  Virtual Only

There are a limited number of parent conferences.  Conference sign ups are done online through PTSC Wizard.  An email was sent home on Wednesday, November 2 with instructions for how to register for conferences.  Please be cognizant, that the conferences are first come, first serve and that there are a limited number of spaces.

In the event you are not able to arrange a conference, please feel free to reach out to the teacher directly via email and/or the school counselor.

Power School and Email

Power School has a feature where parents can click on a teacher's name in that webpage and it automatically opens an email to that teacher.  We have learned that this feature is not working properly and the emails parents send using that feature are not being delivered to the teacher.  Our technology department is working to resolve this issue.  In the meantime, parents who wish to email a teacher should go through their normal email application rather than using the automatic feature found in PowerSchool.

Winter Craft Fair

We hope that you can come out to our 4th annual Northern Burlington Holiday Craft Fair.

The Craft Fair proceeds benefit our Northern Choral and Theatre Programs.

Vendors Wanted:  We are still taking applications for vendors and crafters.

There will be plenty of Holiday items for purchase and music for all to enjoy. We hope to see you there.

PTSC

The clothing drive begins today.  See this link for more information, but basically you can bag up old clothing and other items and drop them off at the pole barn behind the middle school (enter via Island Road and signs will be posted).  This is a way for families to clean out their closets and help raise money for the PTSC at the same time.

PTSC: Check our website (www.nburlington.com/page/ptsc) for more information about each of the events below.

The November Holiday Dessert Fundraiser. Choose from over 40 pies, cakes, cheesecakes, and donuts from A&M Garden Center. Order until 11/14. Pick up on 11/22 at the Middle School. Order form on the PTSC website.

COVID

As a reminder, students who are sick should REMAIN at HOME.  For those students who have symptoms that might indicate the potential of COVID, they will need to be tested before returning to school.  COVID testing can be done in the Doctor's office, community testing site or an at-home test with results provided to the School Nurse.  If negative, a student may return when feeling well and has no sick symptoms. In cases where students do test positive for COVID, they will need to remain home for a minimum of five days.  Students who test positive for COVID and return to school after five days are strongly recommended to wear a well fitting mask around others through the tenth day. Please contact our school nurse with any questions.

Student IDs

It is very important for students to have their student IDs with them at all times during the school day.  Student IDs are required for buying lunch, riding the bus, and other various reasons.

Chromebooks

Please be aware of our updated protocol for the 22-23 school year:

  • Students are expected to bring their school issued Chromebook & charger to school

every day.

  • It is the students’ responsibility to have their Chromebook charged every day.

  • If a student does not have their Chromebook/charger, they will be sent to the main

office to call a parent/guardian to bring what they are missing.

  • Students who have non-working Chromebooks should report to the main office for a

loaner.  When students receive their repaired Chromebook, it is expected that they return the loaner. Students will need their school ID for this process.

  • The cost to replace a charger is $35.

  • The cost to replace a Chromebook will depend on the age of the Chromebook.

Enjoy the long weekend.  However, Friday is Veteran’s Day in the United States (Armistice Day and Remembrance Day in other nations).  In our country, we use the day to recognize the service of our veterans to protect our nation and our citizens.  Thank you to the many veterans for their service.
