Critical Update for Healthy School Environment:
Unfortunately, we are having an increase in COVID Positive cases at Northern as well as Positive Flu cases, a bad allergy season and other illnesses such as strep throat, bronchitis, etc.
It is critical that parents screen their children at home and keep children who are sick at home, if in doubt please keep home & consult with your medical provider and school nurse.
We are still following the Burlington County Health Guidelines for COVID & illness:
COVID-19 Compatible SICK Symptoms that indicate school absence and a COVID Test
• At least one of the following symptoms: new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste and/or smell OR
• At least two of the following symptoms: fever, chills, shivers, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion, or runny nose.
Students who come to school with a combination of these symptoms will be sent home by the school nurse and require a lab negative COVID test before they can return to school.
The Health Department does not allow negative home tests as clearance due to a margin of error resulting in false positives, but we can accept POSITIVE Home tests.

Month of the Military Child - April 11th
Northern is celebrating the Month of the Military Child with Purple Up Day on Monday, April 11th. On Purple Up Day, we will honor and celebrate military students, and acknowledge the sacrifices made by military members and their families.
In an extended homeroom, a presentation will be shared, and it will feature a 5-minute video about the life of the military student. After viewing the video, students will participate in a question-and-answer session led by homeroom teachers with the help of discussion questions featured in the presentation.

During lunch periods, students are encouraged to stop by the Purple Up booth, take a bracelet or ribbon to show support for our military, and chat with military students.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to Ms. Pona, mpona1@nburlington.com  or Ms. Sluberski, csluberski@nburlington.com

No Place for Hate
No Place for Hate is a student-driven initiative aimed at providing a model for combating intolerance, bullying, and hatred.

Students at NB pledge to try their best to actively speak out against acts of bullying, discrimination, bias, and outright hate.

Multicultural Day will be on April 14th. Students will be visiting the celebration during their Health and PE classes. Students will be asked to join a Google Classroom where they will be provided updated information.

Clinical Corner Spotlight:
Developing Adolescent Identity – by Joanna Lee Williams, PhD - Among the profound and exciting changes taking place in adolescence is the process of self-discovery. Our teens are working to figure out who they are, making adolescent identity development a central feature of teen life.  They select the environments and people they want to be around. They adjust their beliefs and behaviors based on feedback. And they reflect on all of this while working to figure out who they are.  While your tween or teen may not be doing all of these, here are a few ways they may be changing as they seek answers to the question, “Who am I?”: Click the link to access the full article Adolescent Identity Development: What to Expect in Teens
