Federal Impact Aid Survey:

October 15, 2021 – October 30, 2021

Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey.  This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner.  To make this process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can now be completed electronically.

The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive federal funding of military affiliated students.

Please note that even if you are not active military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as of October 15, 2021 and return by October 30, 2021.

Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these forms to us in a timely manner.

In order for our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than October 30, 2021, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey.

Click here to log into your PowerSchool parent account, once logged in click on the link from the left side of the webpage that says Forms and complete the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey” electronically.  A form needs to be submitted for each child, however if submitting for multiple children, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each child without having to reproduce each survey selection.

Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Jill Markley, Administrative Assistant, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator (609) 298-3900 extension 2080.

Start Strong Testing:

High school students completed the New Jersey Start Strong testing this past week.  Thank you to our students helping to ensure the process went smoothly.  For those students who were absent, make-up testing will take place in the coming days.

COVID Monitoring:

Our school nurse wanted to remind parents to screen their children DAILY for symptoms before sending them to school.  Parents/caregivers should monitor their children for signs of illness every day as they are the front line for assessing illness in their children. Students who are sick should stay home from school and call the attendance line: 609.298.3900 x 2029

Masks:

Students, staff and visitors are required to wear masks while in school.  We are grateful for the attention given to this requirement and cooperation in this regard.

More recent CDC guidelines regarding masks have been posted and these are noted below:

  • Wear masks with two or more layers to stop the spread of COVID-19

  • Wear the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin

  • CDC does not recommend the use of gaiters or face shields. Evaluation of these face covers is on-going but effectiveness is unknown at this time.

Per the CDC guidelines, gaiters are not recommended at this time because of questionable effectiveness.  Furthermore, since masks must be secured under the chin, traditionally worn bandanas are not considered effective either.  As a result, students, staff and visitors may not wear bandanas or gaiters as a mask while in school.  Disposable masks will be provided for those who do not bring an acceptable mask to school.

IMPORTANT: INSURANCE INFORMATION

OPTIONAL Trip Insurance should be purchased by NOW!   **insurance cannot be purchased after school receives your final payment. See attachments for information and how to purchase. It IS advised and encouraged that every student purchase trip insurance.

A note from the travel company pertaining to insurance:

If a student does not purchase insurance and cannot travel later, they will be under penalty at the time of canceling.

What if my student has to quarantine due to COVID-19?

If insurance is purchased this is a non-covered reason, however it would fall under the Cancel For Any Reason coverage to possibly get back 75% of a penalty charged.

The travel agency would not issue a refund if they need to quarantine.

What if my student is diagnosed with COVID-19?

If a student is actually diagnosed with Covid this could be a covered reason at 100% for sickness, however that is up to Travel Insured as medical documentation would need to be provided.

What if there is a lockdown, quarantine requirement, or Disney is closed?

If the CDC has a state ban in place to not travel to Florida or Disney is closed, the travel agency would issue a full refund.

Currently for quarantining, no states are requiring the need to quarantine before or after visiting Florida.

Additional insurance questions, please reach out to the insurance company directly.  See attachment for contact information here.
