Federal Impact Aid Form:

Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey. This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner. To make this process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can now be completed electronically.

The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive the federal funding of military affiliated students.

Please note that even if you are not active military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as of October 15, 2020 and submit by October 30, 2020.

Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these surveys to us in a timely manner.

In order for our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than TODAY, October 30, 2020, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey.

Click here to log into your PowerSchool parent account. Once logged in, click on the link on the left side of the webpage that says Forms. Choose the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey 2020-2021” to complete the form electronically. A form needs to be submitted for each student, however if submitting for multiple students, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each student without having to reproduce each survey selection.

Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Kristie Worrell, Administrative Assistant, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator (609) 298-3900 extension 2080.

Health & Safety Reminders:

COVID Cannot test out of Quarantine

COVID-How-Long-Isolate-Quarantine

It is important to emphasize a few points with regard to health safety.  Most importantly, students should not come to school if they are sick.  The remote option is available on a day to day basis if a student has any symptoms on the day he or she is supposed to attend school in person but can still attend school at home.  If you have any medical questions, please contact our school nurse at extension 2216(west office) or 2085(east office). Covid Informational Flyers.

Here are the main points when students are in school:

Wash Up:  Students are to practice hand hygiene.  This includes routinely washing hands when sinks are available, using the hand sanitizer when entering classrooms, and as needed.

Mask Up:  Students are to wear masks at all times while in the building and on the bus.  Masks are to meet CDC guidelines and cover both the mouth and the nose.  *Please note that the CDC guidelines identify certain requirements for masks and Northern follows these guidelines.  Please see the note below about masks.

Cover Up:  Students are to sneeze/cough into an elbow, even when wearing a mask.

Back Up:  Students are to exercise social distancing whenever possible.

In addition, students should bring their Chromebooks, fully charged,  to school.  In a change of our school policy, students may carry a bookbag with them throughout the school day for school supplies, including their Chromebooks.

Masks:

Students and staff are required to wear masks while in school.  We are grateful for the attention students give this requirement and their cooperation in this regard.

More recent CDC guidelines regarding masks have been posted and these are noted below:

  • Wear masks with two or more layers to stop the spread of COVID-19

  • Wear the mask over your nose and mouth and secure it under your chin

  • Masks should be worn by people two years and older

  • Masks should NOT be worn by children younger than two, people who have trouble breathing, or people who cannot remove the mask without assistance

  • Do NOT wear masks intended for healthcare workers, for example, N95 respirators

  • CDC does not recommend the use of gaiters or face shields. Evaluation of these face covers is on-going but effectiveness is unknown at this time.

Per the CDC guidelines, gaiters are not recommended at this time because of questionable effectiveness.  Furthermore, since masks must be secured under the chin, traditionally worn bandanas are not considered effective either.  As a result, students and staff may not wear this as a mask while in school.  Disposable masks will be provided for students to wear for those students who do not bring an acceptable mask to school.

Travel Quarantine Update:

If a student is planning to travel out of state please check the New Jersey’s Travel Advisory Form

Parent Conferences

Conference scheduling is now open and will close on Monday, November 9th at 4pm.  Please note that ALL conferences will be held remotely via Zoom and appointments are scheduled in 10-minute intervals.

The sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • November 10      12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

  • November 11      Veteran’s Day:  School Closed

  • November 12      12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

  • November 13      12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Conferences are scheduled online via PTC Wizard.  While the conferences are open to all parents, there are a limited number of appointments available.  If you are not sure if a conference is necessary, feel free to contact the teacher directly.   For parents who are interested in a conference they are encouraged to register as soon as possible.  If you are unable to meet during conferences or feel that you may need more than the 10 minutes allotted per appointment, we invite you to contact your child’s teacher or counselor to make alternate arrangements.

 How it works:

  • Parents create an account in PTC Wizard.

  • It is helpful to have a list of the student’s teachers handy.

  • Once logged in, Parents choose:

    1. which set of conferences they prefer and

    2. the teachers they wish to see from a staff listing of all middle school teachers.

    3. Parents will then see which teachers are available for a given time slot, and sign up for appointments

    4. Note:  If a teacher is fully booked, they will not appear as a choice for that day/time

  • PTC Wizard will send parents a confirmation email that includes their schedule with the Zoom links for each of their appointments.

  • On or about November 9, PTC Wizard will send parents a reminder email with their schedule and Zoom links for their appointments.

Clinical Corner Spotlight:

The 2020 Presidential Election is quickly approaching and as we know, one of the most tumultuous in our history, bringing out intense social controversy and emotions, as well as questionable behavior, that may be confusing and/or upsetting for our children.  In the midst of the pandemic, as well as fighting for racial justice, this election may be particularly difficult for parents to navigate, as families adapt to the many “norms” COVID-19 has brought on.  Rachel Buchholz, National Geographic Kids’ Editor in Chief, has some good advice.  Please click the link to access the video: https://kdvr.com/news/talking-to-your-kids-about-the-election/

Additionally, you can check out National Geographic’s Family Hub for future content and resources for parents to better navigate these crucial times!

STUDENT PARKING:

Student parking for the 2020-2021 school year is now available for seniors and juniors (with birthdays up to the end of December 2003) for this phase of hybrid learning.  Please click then review the appropriate link below (depending upon your grade level), to the letter with the application process & requirements stated within.  Parking Decals  are being mailed to students upon approval.

2020 College Application Process for Seniors & their families:

Each year, the counseling department presents to parents of seniors about the College Application process. This year we have created a virtual presentation that can be viewed HERE. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor directly. A chart of counseling assignments can be found HERE. If your student needs to speak with his/her counselor at any time throughout the year, they can do so by submitting a request using the request form or email.

Have a great weekend!                                                                                                                                                                Steve Lee, Northern Burlington
