HALL OF FAME

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Northern Burlington County Regional Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor those individuals that have demonstrated superior athletic prowess and skills as a player or coach and/or have distinguished themselves through their leadership, service, and commitment to the program.

HISTORY

The Northern Burlington Athletic Hall of Fame was two years forming before the first induction ceremony in 2008. At the time, the founding members of the NBAHOF committee included a vast array of individuals connected to Northern Burlington County Regional School District dedicated to celebrating the past athletic achievements of those embedded in the “Greyhound Culture”. These devoted individuals included former superintendent, Dr. James Sarruda, (1983-2003, 2011) athletic director, Mr. Jack Lukis, (2004-2011) athletic director Ms. Chris Haines, current administrative assistant to the athletic director Mrs. Michele O’Neill, and the loyal community members of Mrs. Jane Humble, Mr. Steve Makuka, Mrs. Sue Makuka and Mr. Ron VanSciver. All worked diligently from 2006-2008, gathering information from other area high schools with previously established Hall of Fame programs. After developing the bylaws, the committee was ready to hold the first NBAHOF induction ceremony.

The 2008 induction was held in the Northern Burlington Middle School atrium. From there, the venue moved to the Burlington Country Club and since then, individuals have congregated at the Old York Country Club to reminisce in Northern’s finest blue and grey athletic moments. At this point with twelve induction ceremonies, the NBAHOF committee is proud to have inducted 42 athletes, 10 coaches, 11 teams and 8 honorary recognitions. In recent years, the program has been headed by Dr. Daniel Uszaki, Mrs. Michele O’Neill and Mr. Brian Wolverton. Over the years, the NBAHOF committee membership has changed, but the purpose has remained the same, to honor those individuals that have demonstrated superior athletic prowess and skills as a player or coach and/or have distinguished themselves through their leadership, service and commitment to Northern Burlington’s athletic programs. It is with great honor that we celebrate in the achievements of our inductees and thank all of those who have made this journey possible.
