Middle School Parent Message

Good Afternoon,

Here are the updates from the middle school:

Parent Conferences:  Parent conferences are scheduled to take place on November 16, 17, and 18.  The schedule is as follows:

November 16  12:45 pm - 2:45 pm and 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

November 17 12:40 pm - 2:40 pm

November 18 12:40 pm - 2:40 pm  Virtual Only

The email to register for parent conferences went out Wednesday.  It included directions for how to register for conferences.  All Conferences are scheduled online via PTC Wizard.  While the conferences are open to all parents, there are a limited number of appointments available.  If you are not sure if a conference is necessary, feel free to contact the teacher directly.   For parents who are interested in a conference they are encouraged to register as soon as possible since it is first come, first serve.  If you are unable to meet during conferences or feel that you may need more than the 10 minutes allotted per appointment, we invite you to contact your child’s teacher or counselor to make alternate arrangements.

Power School and Email:  Power School has a feature where parents can click on a teacher's name in that webpage and it automatically opens an email to that teacher.  We have learned that this feature is not working properly and the emails parents send using that feature are not being delivered to the teacher.  Our technology department is working to resolve this issue.  In the meantime, parents who wish to email a teacher should go through their normal email application rather than using the automatic feature found in Power School.

Athletic Participation Packet:  Due to a new form requested by the NJ Dept. of Education and NJSIAA, an additional 10 questions are required for you to complete online for your student's Winter Physical.

If you completed the online registration for winter sports prior to October 15, 2022, please log into the Northern Burlington Activity Registration website and answer the additional questions on Step 7 of the electronic application. These are located after the initial questions that were originally submitted.

Food Drive:  The middle school will be working with the Food Bank of South Jersey to sponsor a food drive the week of December 12.  Look for information on the donations as we approach that date.

Federal Impact Aid Survey:  We continue to collect Federal Impact Aid Surveys.  If your child has not submitted one, please anticipate that we will contact you or your student to remind them.  This is an important source of our school’s funding.  We appreciate your support in this regard.

Health Curriculum Presentation for Parents/Guardians: Thank you to all who came out to this week’s presentation on the middle school health curriculum presentation.

PTSC News: The clothing drive begins today.  See this link for more information, but basically you can bag up old clothing and other items and drop them off at the pole barn behind the middle school (enter via Island Road and signs will be posted).  This is a way for families to clean out their closets and help raise money for the PTSC at the same time.

Check our website (www.nburlington.com/page/ptsc) for more information about each of the events below.

The November Holiday Dessert Fundraiser. Choose from over 40 pies, cakes, cheesecakes, and donuts from A&M Garden Center. Order until 11/14. Pick up on 11/22 at the Middle School. Order form on the PTSC website or use the following link: https://forms.gle/8L8F7wUVKCbA...

Thank you for all your support with the Middle School Book Fair. We crushed our goal and sold the most books for any single fair!

COVID: As a reminder,  students who are ill should stay home.

For those students who have symptoms that might indicate the potential of COVID, they will need to be tested before returning to school.  COVID Testing can be done in a Doctor’s office, community testing site or an at-home test with results provided to the School Nurse.  If negative, students may return when feeling well and symptoms free. In cases where students do test positive for COVID, they will need to remain home for a minimum of five days. Students who test positive for COVID and return to school after five days are strongly recommended to wear a well fitting mask around others through the tenth day.  Please contact our school nurse with any questions, tpugliese@nburlington.com.

Winter Sports:  Athletic registration for the winter season is now open. For middle school, these are basketball, wrestling, and cheerleading.  Please refer to the link below.

**If you created an account for the fall season, you DO NOT need to create a new account.  Simply log in with your username and password that you used for the fall.
