Middle School Parent Message

Good Afternoon,

Here are the updates from the middle school:

Halloween:  Just a reminder, Monday, October 31, is Halloween.  However, in middle school it is just another school day.  Students are not to wear costumes to school.  Save those for the evening rounds of trick or treating.

Athletic Participation Packet:  Due to a new form requested by the NJ Dept. of Education and NJSIAA, an additional 10 questions are required for you to complete online for your student's Winter Physical.

If you completed the online registration for winter sports prior to October 15, 2022, please log into the Northern Burlington Activity Registration website and answer the additional questions on Step 7 of the electronic application. These are located after the initial questions that were originally submitted.

Below is the link to the registration portal:

Please complete by Friday, 11/11 or your student will be uncleared in the system

If you have any questions, please contact the Athletic Office at 609-298-3900, ext. 2093 or email moneill@nburlington.com

Federal Impact Aid Survey:  Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey.  This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner.  To make the process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can be completed electronically.

The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive federal funding of military affiliated students.

Please note that even if you are not active military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as of October 14, 2022 by October 28, 2022.

Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these forms to us in a timely manner.

In order for our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than October 28, 2022, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey.

Click here to log into your PowerSchool parent account, once logged in click on the link from the left side of the webpage that says Forms and complete the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey” electronically.  A form needs to be submitted for each child, however if submitting for multiple children, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each child without having to reproduce each survey selection.

Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Jill Markley, Administrative Assistant, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator (609) 298-3900 extension 2080.

Health Curriculum Presentation for Parents/Guardians: As you are aware, middle school students all have health and physical education in their schedule of courses and health classes meet for one marking period during the year.  To educate parents and guardians on the family life topics in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and share how NB addresses these standards, please join us for a presentation on November 1, 2022 from 6:30-7:30PM in the MS cafetorium. COVID: As a reminder,  students who are ill should stay home.

For those students who have symptoms that might indicate the potential of COVID, they will need to be tested before returning to school.  COVID Testing can be done in a Doctor’s office, community testing site or an at-home test with results provided to the School Nurse.  If negative, students may return when feeling well and symptoms free. In cases where students do test positive for COVID, they will need to remain home for a minimum of five days. Students who test positive for COVID and return to school after five days are strongly recommended to wear a well fitting mask around others through the tenth day.  Please contact our school nurse with any questions, tpugliese@nburlington.com.

Clinical Corner:  Holiday decorations are already in the stores and while that excites some, it doesn’t always call for celebration for everyone. Especially if one has lost someone or something special or of value to them. Losses come in so many forms, and holidays can be hard if the anniversary of the loss occurred around that time. Unfortunately, some of our students, their families and even staff may be struggling with loss and having it be exacerbated by the upcoming holidays. Tips on how to help yourself or someone else experiencing grief and loss as well as more in-depth information is shared in this article. Also here is a LINK from Moorestown Visiting Nurses & Hospice with grief and loss groups for the fall. You may join any of these groups at any time just by registering 24 hours in advance at (856)552-1300x2507 or by emailing vasko@moorestownvna.org.
