Middle School Parent Message

Middle School Dance:  We are looking forward to holding our first dance of the school year.  Dances are special events and it is important that students make good choices to ensure it is a positive experience for all.  The back of the ticket lists expectations for the event, but here are  few reminders about tonight’s dance.

  • No tickets will be sold at the door.  Only students who purchased a ticket in advance during school this week may attend.

  • Students MUST have their student ID

  • Doors will open at 6:30 pm.

  • The dance will end at 8:30 pm. Please be prepared to pick up your child promptly at the conclusion of the dance

  • Student pick up will be organized in the following way:

    • 8th graders will be picked up form the main entrance accessed via Mansfield-Road East

    • 7th graders will be picked up from the bus entrance accessed via North Island Road

    • Students will be required to wait on the sidewalk of the respective entrance until their ride pulls up to the curb or a parent escorts them from the sidewalk to a parked car.  We want to limit students moving through the parking lot with lots of cars.

Federal Impact Aid Survey:  Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey.  This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner.  To make the process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can be completed electronically.

The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive federal funding of military affiliated students.

Please note that even if you are not active military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as of October 14, 2022 by October 28, 2022.

Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these forms to us in a timely manner.

In order for our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than October 28, 2022, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey.

Click here to log into your PowerSchool parent account, once logged in click on the link from the left side of the webpage that says Forms and complete the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey” electronically.  A form needs to be submitted for each child, however if submitting for multiple children, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each child without having to reproduce each survey selection.

Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Jill Markley, Administrative Assistant, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator (609) 298-3900 extension 2080.

School Pictures:  School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, October 18, during physical education classes.  The order forms were sent home with students.  In the event the order form did not make it home, pictures may be ordered by visiting mylifetouch.com  and using the school picture day ID EVT946VHK.

Start Strong Assessment:  We completed the Start Strong Assessments this week for our seventh and eighth graders. Thank you to our staff and students for making the process go as smoothly as possible.  There are a few students who will need to complete make ups, other than that, this completes this round of standardized testing.

STOPit: Anonymous Reporting Application and Web Page:  The school district  uses an application and website called STOPit that allows students to make reports anonymously to school administration.  Students will be introduced to it on Friday, October 21 in social studies classes.  Downloading the application is optional.  The intent is to provide students with another outlet to report issues of concern.  Please see this LINK from the software company for more information.

Clinical Corner Spotlight:  October is underway.  It is starting to get darker out earlier.  Activities, clubs and sports are in full swing which can make for a long night after school.  This can mean less sleep for your teen who may already have a love/ hate relationship with it.  An article from Positive Psychology states, “ During teenage development, with new and emerging social roles, increased autonomy, changes to circadian rhythms, and a greater tolerance for sleep pressure(literally resisting the urge to sleep), it is even more essential to put in place better sleep hygiene.”  (Tarokh et al, 2016).    Click here to read the remainder of the article.  Hopefully some of the information shared will help parents get more quality shut-eye too!

COVID: As a reminder,  students who are ill should stay home.

For those students who have symptoms that might indicate the potential of COVID, they will need to be tested before returning to school.  COVID Testing can be done in a Doctor’s office, community testing site or an at-home test with results provided to the School Nurse.  If negative, students may return when feeling well and symptoms free. In cases where students do test positive for COVID, they will need to remain home for a minimum of five days. Students who test positive for COVID and return to school after five days are strongly recommended to wear a well fitting mask around others through the tenth day.  Please contact our school nurse with any questions, tpugliese@nburlington.com.
