Dear Parents and Guardians:

For one last time this school year, here are the updates from the middle school.  Before I get to those updates, I want to thank everyone for their patience as we worked through one more school year in the midst of a pandemic. It seems that we are certainly past the worst of it and brighter days are ahead of us in that regard.  On behalf of all of the faculty and staff, we appreciate you entrusting your children to us on a daily basis.  There were certainly challenges, but we hope the school year was a rewarding experience, overall.  For those of you who were able to make it, it was good to see you at the “clap out” as we saw our students off the campus for a final time this year.  Best wishes to the class of 2026 as they head off to high school, and we look forward to welcoming back the class of 2027 as eighth graders.

Student Summer Assignments:  Summer assignments are ready for students enrolled in various honors and Advanced Placement courses.  Students can access the assignments using these links.

Middle School Summer Assignments

Students should follow the instructions provided for each assignment.

Chromebooks:  When the school year concludes, students will keep their chromebooks over the summer.  For the students entering 8th grade (Class of 2027), they will be using the same Dell chromebook for the 2022-2023 school year.  For those students entering 9th grade (Class of 2026), they will be handing in the current chromebook in exchange for a new chromebook on August 25, 29, 30, 31 from 10-2 in the High School bus lot..  In the event a student needs to withdraw from Northern Burlington during the summer, as part of the regular sign out process, please bring the Chromebook and charger to turn it back to the school. For lost and damaged items: $225 for a Chromebook and $35 for a charger.

Sports Physicals:  Northern Burlington’s Athletic Physical Packets are officially online! Paper forms will no longer be accepted by the Nursing/Athletic Departments. Please be patient as we continue to work on the implementation of the new system.

Athletic packets are being accepted for 1) Summer Conditioning and 2) All Fall HIGH SCHOOL Sports/Activities. Please note if you are registering for Summer Conditioning, and you plan to participate in a Fall Sport, you must register for BOTH events independently.

Please go to the following page to start your 1) Registration Process, and submit your 2) Doctor Approved Physical Packet Upload:  https://northernburlington-ar.rschooltoday.com/

The Athletic Physical Packet for Fall MIDDLE SCHOOL Sports opened on June 7.  Here is the link to start the 1) Athletic Registration Process, and 2) to submit/upload your Doctor Approved Physical Packet:  https://northernburlington-ar....

Any student who wishes to participate in a fall sport, middle school or high school, must complete this important process in order to be eligible.  For additional assistance, please contact the athletic department at 609.298.3900, ext. 2093.

No Place for Hate:  We received word that our school has again earned the designation as a No Place for Hate School for the 21-22 school year.  While we recognize that there is still work to be done in this regard, we appreciate earning the designation. Thank you for your support of this initiative.

Tours for Incoming 7th Graders (current 6th grade students) & New Students:  This summer, the middle school will be open to tour for any students in seventh and eighth grade who will be with us in September.  The schedule is listed below.  While we do an extensive orientation program for students when school begins in the fall, the summer tours will give students a chance to get a feel of the layout of the building and some familiarity before school opens officially.  The tours will be led by school personnel who will also be able to give an overview of different parts of the middle school program.  In addition, we will have lockers available for students to try out and practice opening using a combination lock.

During the summer our facilities department is hard at work getting the building ready for the opening of school, so on a given day different parts of the building may not be accessible and the building will be in some disarray as classrooms are being emptied and cleaned.

Tours will begin at the main entrance to the middle school(near the flagpole).  For students who are interested in visiting for a tour, they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Tour group size will depend on the number of registrants.  The tour itself should take no more than 30 minutes. Please complete the form to register for the date you wish to attend.

Clinical Corner Spotlight:  Preparing Your Child for a Safe Summer:  As we enter a third summer with the burden of COVID related uncertainty, we are reminded that schools play a critical role in the community, a role that reaches far beyond academic instruction. Students and parents rely on teachers and school communities to provide structure and emotional support, to supply nutritious meals, to offer medical and mental health services, and to offer opportunities for recreation and for socialization. As this school year draws to a close, parents can maximize the safety of their children by collaborating with teachers and mental health professionals to develop a safety plan that will incorporate opportunities for structure and support over the summer months. • Happy Summer Break - Summer is just around the corner! As you start planning your summer activities, remember to allow yourself time to rest, restore, and reconnect.

  • Choose the outdoors. Spending time outside helps reduce stress and anxiety, boost your mood, and inspire creativity. Try walking, hiking, biking, gardening, or enjoying a shady picnic in the park.

  • Spend time with loved ones. On a day-to-day basis, it’s easy to get stuck in our own routines and lose quality time with friends and family. Find time to reconnect this summer with shared meals, game nights, movie nights, or a simple phone call.

  • Catch up on sleep. During busy times, we sometimes stray from healthy sleep habits. Practice creating a consistent sleep schedule and get the much needed rest your body deserves.

Most importantly, have fun and do one thing each day that makes you happy.
