Of course, respect is not a concept that is limited to this week alone. It is a topic we have touched on from the beginning of the year (it is one of our core values, Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Responsible), and I am sure we will return to it throughout the year. However, it was nice to be able to focus on that concept this week and we look forward to those discussions promoting respectful behavior moving forward. | | The middle school pictures will be taken on October 21 during physical education class. All students are photographed. These pictures will be used in the yearbook and for student IDs. Parents have the option to order picture packages. The author, Angela Haupt, paints the picture of the typical exchange after school of parents asking about their kid’s day and getting the famous “good”, “fine” or “ok" answer. Haupt suggests that when you first see your child, instead of asking them about their day, to just tell them you are happy to see them or ask about food, as they are most likely hungry. She mentions using these 10 thoughtful alternatives, (not every one every day), that have a much better chance of getting to know the inner workings of your child’s life and mind. She also suggests asking these later in the night as your child may be more talkative. Here is a sneak peek at some of the questions:
Tell me something that made you feel anxious or worried today. How did you handle it? What was something kind you did or saw? Is there anything you are nervous about for tomorrow? When did you feel the most bored? What made you smile today? Is there anything from your day you want some help with?
Each question explains how you can elaborate on it with more suggestions of what to say. Your child's lunch status remains the same eligibility from last year for free or reduced- price meals but will expire on 10/20/2025 unless a new application has been submitted prior to this date. You can still reapply for benefits for this school year by completing the online application found at https://mealapp.lunchtimesoftware.net/Default.aspx or turning in a paper application directly to the school. If you are not eligible for benefits now, but have a decrease in household income, become unemployed, or have an increase in household size, you may fill out an application at that time, to reapply for benefits.
