Dear Northern Burlington County Regional Middle School Families,

Northern Burlington County Regional Middle School District is committed to ensuring that all students start the day with a nutritious breakfast. We are pleased to announce our participation in the “Breakfast After the Bell” program, an initiative designed to make breakfast more accessible for everyone.

What is the Breakfast After the Bell Program?

This program offers breakfast to students after the school day has officially begun, rather than before. This allows students to eat breakfast in the classroom during the first 15 minutes of the school day. Teachers will use this time to run tutorials and get the day started as usual.

Why are we implementing this program?

Serving breakfast after the bell removes common barriers that may prevent students from eating in the morning. This model ensures more students have access to a healthy breakfast, allowing them to start the day ready to learn. Research has shown that eating school breakfast can positively impact student attendance, behavior, and academic performance.

When will breakfast be available? At NBC, the school day begins daily with our Before the Bell Breakfast starting at 6:45. At 7:30 the homeroom bell rings. After The Bell Breakfast will be available from 7:30- 7:45. Breakfast will be available to students as grab & go in kiosks and in the cafeteria during these times.

What is served for breakfast?

School breakfasts always include milk, fruit, and whole grains or a meat/meat alternative. While some of our breakfast items may look similar to those found in stores, our school breakfasts are specifically designed to have more whole grains and less sugar, sodium, saturated fat, and calories. You can find our school menus on our website: www.nburlington.com/page/food-services.
