‘Tis the Season:  On Friday, December 22, it will be an early dismissal day for students as we get ready to leave for Winter Break.  Part of the day we will have some fun competitions and games.  In addition, we invite our students to join us in wearing their most garish holiday sweater (it needs to be appropriate for school) as we close out 2023, and prepare to take our winter holiday.

Attendance Notification:  The district has implemented an automatic attendance notification system. In the event that a student is absent from school, for any reason, parents will receive an automated text message and email. We hope that this process helps to better keep parents informed of their students' attendance.

High School Program of Studies:  The 2024-2025 High School Program of Studies is now available on the HS Counseling website.  Course selection in the high school for 2024-2025 begins in January.

Clinical Corner: This busy time of year makes it hard to keep up with everything-and things tend to literally pile up!  And I am sure it’s no surprise that this can activate the stress hormone cortisol in your body.  On the flip side, after you organize your refrigerator or your desk you just naturally feel calmer!  And sometimes happier!   In the article, “The surprising impact a cluttered space can have on your health-both mental and physical”, it states “A cluttered space often induces feelings of overwhelm, stress and anxiety,’ explains Dr. Grace Hula. “The constant visual stimuli from a chaotic environment can contribute to a sense of being mentally burdened, making it challenging to focus and concentrate.”  From a physical perspective, the article mentions the consequences of injuries due to tripping over cluttered spaces as well as being a breeding ground for dust and pests.  So if you have a minute, encourage your child/student to tidy up their room or study area or set aside some time to sweep through your living room picking up things as you go….you might feel a little lighter and less stressed.  For the full article, click here.

Winter Sports Spectators:  We are beginning the winter sports season.  While we appreciate our students wanting to come out and support their classmates, we are not equipped to provide supervision to student spectators.  As a result, students who wish to watch a basketball game or wrestling match must first go home and then return with a responsible adult who will stay with them for the duration of the contest and then provide a ride home.

Bus Drivers Needed:  Please see this FLIER from our transportation office.  The district is looking for full and part time bus drivers.  The job includes free training to earn CDL, as well as flexible hours.  Feel free to share this flier with others who may be interested.

Have a good weekend!
