Good Afternoon:

I will spare you any cliche to describe the 2020-2021 school year.  It has drawn to a close and thank you for all of your support as we worked our way through it during the pandemic.  We are all looking forward to a much more “normal” school year in 2021-2022.

As we prepare to go on summer break, here is some information I want to share:

Yearbooks:  Those students who purchased a yearbook in advance and who are intending in person will have had it delivered to them in school on June 17.

REMOTE STUDENTS- A table will be set up outside the middle school main office on Friday, June 18 between 1 pm and 3 pm for yearbook pickup. Please bring a form of ID.

PURCHASING A YEARBOOK: There are a few extra copies of the 2021 yearbook available for $55.

Yearbooks can be purchased online, between 2-3 pm on Friday, June 18, and in the middle school main office the week of June 21, while supplies last.

There are two option to pay for the book:

  1. Cash

  2. Use the link jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A09873596 and print out your receipt to show at pickup.

Questions, please contact Ms. Gierman at kgierman@nburlington.com

Power School and Final Grades:  Over the summer you will be able to access information on Power School such as report cards.  However, beginning June 21, options such as student schedules will not be available as we prepare for the next school year.

Student Vaccinations:  Looking to next year, we encourage students to be vaccinated for COVID-19.  Listed below is information on vaccine clinics, but it will be out of date soon.  Be sure to check the NJ web pages for the most up to date information as the summer progresses.

Several options are available for appointments or for walk in sessions in our area..

  •  RWJ at Hamilton has appointments available at this LINK.

  • Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills has the following June Walk-In sessions open:

To search the NJ COVID-19 dashboard for places to receive the vaccine please check https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/vaccine

Summer Assignments:  NB’s Program of Studies includes formal Summer Assignments for Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses in  the high school.

All summer assignments will be available on the High School Summer Assignment section of the Website by June 14.  Please contact the director of the department with content related questions or your student’s counselor with placement questions.

We do encourage summer learning for all of our students.  Here is a LINK to different suggested activities, particularly in language arts and mathematics.

Chromebooks:  Middle school students should plan to keep their chromebooks through the end of the school year.

  • For students who are signing out to go to a different school, the chromebook and charger will need to be returned prior to being able to withdraw and have records transferred.

  • For seventh graders (Class of 2026), the chromebook issued this year will be the same chromebook they will use next year in eighth grade.  Seventh graders should plan to bring that chromebook with them when school begins in September.

  • For eighth graders (Class of 2025), the chromebook issued this year will be collected and a new one issued for use in ninth grade.  Look for a message this summer for times and locations to return the chromebook and be issued a new one for high school.  It is anticipated that this will take place in August and be done out of the middle school.  Look for further communications about this during the summer.

Fall Sports:  The athletic office is now accepting 2021-2022 Physical Packets for summer workouts and conditioning. Fall packets are now being accepted 90-days prior to the start date of a season.

https://www.nburlington.com/o/nbc-hs/browse/63469

For students entering high school, practices begin in August, so prospective athletes should submit this paperwork as soon as possible.  Middle school practices will begin in September, but the paperwork should still be submitted this summer to ensure students are cleared to participate when sports begin.

Opening of School in September:  As we get closer to the start of school in September, look for emails with information about the opening of school, transportation assignments, and the like.
