Thanksgiving:

While holiday traditions often run counter to the guidance about how to reduce the spread of COVID-19, at the heart of Thanksgiving is a sense of gratitude; and there is much to be grateful for, even in these challenging times.  We wish all of the families connected to Northern Burlington a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, even if it is different from what we are used to.

After the break, we will all be remote and plan to return to our hybrid model on December 7.

Travel Advisories: As we approach the holiday season, Governor Murphy has encouraged us all to limit travel whenever possible and to keep celebrations to immediate family members.  However, in the event your family is traveling to one of the many states on New Jersey’s quarantine list, please plan to have your child quarantine for 14 days.  Students are able to attend all of their classes virtually during that time, even if they are in the hybrid model.  In the event your child will be quarantining and attending school virtually during that time, please notify your child’s counselor. Please do not hesitate to contact our school nurse with any questions regarding the quarantine process.  A link to  travel advisories is included below:

Health and Safety Reminder:

It is important to emphasize a few points with regard to health safety.  Most importantly, students should not come to school if they are sick.  The remote option is available on a day to day basis if a student has any symptoms on the day he or she is supposed to attend school in person but can still attend school at home.  If you have any medical questions, please contact our school nurse at extension 2216(west office) or 2085(east office). Clinical Corner Spotlight:

Thanksgiving 2020

The holidays this year are just going to be different.  We used to look forward to gathering together, traveling to see family and friends, and bonding as we ate a delicious feast, now requires adjustment to calculate taking priority in being safe.  Although the pandemic has affected everyone in different ways, there seems to be little doubt that the average mental health of the population in the United States has declined.  Right from the get-go, it is important to make it clear that nothing we provide in the article can fill the void or heal the anxiety that COVID-19 has produced.  Perhaps, though, it might push us in the right direction. At times, small steps, taken together, can produce significant benefits.  Please click this link to access the full article: https://www.medicalnewstoday.c...

Calendar for Second Marking Period:

The calendar for the second marking period can be found at this link.  Please note the remote days after the Thanksgiving break as well as after the winter Break.

Also, there is a change of which cohorts are attending in person the week of December 21  (Cohorts C/D will be in person on Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22.).  Of course, this calendar is subject to change based on health trends. Please note that Homeroom for Monday and Thursday is the student’s period 1-2 class while Tuesday and Friday homeroom is the student’s period 9-10-11 class.

Parent Teacher Student Connection (PTSC):

Please remember to become a member of our organization this year. If you are already a member, thank you! You can access our link through the Northern Burlington site. Payments of $10 per family are accepted via check or through PayPal. It is important that we receive your contribution as this money is channeled back to our students in the form of mini grants, awarded to teachers for use in their classrooms,  as well as Scholarships granted to seniors. If you have a senior graduating in 2021 please make sure that your membership is received by us no later than February 26th, 2021 in order to be eligible. We can always be reached via email at nburlingtonptsc@gmail.com. Please stay safe!

***NOTE: We are hopeful that we may be able to have a clothing drive in the Spring of 2021***

Federal Impact Aid Form - PAST DUE:

Each fall, the Northern Burlington County Regional School District reaches out to all parents asking that they complete the Federal Impact Aid survey. This is a very important document that needs to be completed in a timely manner. To make this process more convenient for our families, this Federal Impact Aid survey can now be completed electronically.

The Northern Burlington County Regional School District must receive an annual signed survey from ALL parents or guardians for EACH student in order to receive the federal funding of military affiliated students.

Please note that even if you are not active military or a civilian working on federal property, it is essential that ALL parents and guardians complete and sign this form as soon as possible.

Federal Impact Aid supports local school districts with concentrations of children who have parents/guardians in the uniformed services or parents/guardians employed on eligible Federal Properties. It was designed to assist local school districts that have lost property tax revenue due to the presence of tax-exempt Federal Property served by the district. Each year, Northern Burlington receives Federal Impact Aid funds because of your cooperation in returning these surveys to us in a timely manner.

In order for our District to meet the filing deadline, we need to have the completed form(s) submitted no later than TODAY, even if your employment does not fall within the categories listed on the survey.

Click here to log into your PowerSchool parent account. Once logged in, click on the link on the left side of the webpage that says Forms. Choose the “Title VIII Federal Impact Aid Survey 2020-2021” to complete the form electronically. A form needs to be submitted for each student, however if submitting for multiple students, please click the arrow up key next to the submit button. This will allow you to submit the form for each student without having to reproduce each survey selection.

Thank you for your continued support of the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. If you have additional questions, please contact Kristie Worrell, Administrative Assistant, extension 2003 or Richard Kaz, School Business Administrator (609) 298-3900 extension 2080.

Wednesday Expectations:

The district has put together the following handout to clarify activities on typical Wednesdays during hybrid instruction .  That information can be found at this LINK.

Picture Day Make-ups:

We know that several students were unable to get their pictures taken this week.  We do not currently have a make-up day scheduled however we will be talking to LifeTouch shortly to set a date.  We are also planning to offer a link for parents to upload a picture of their student for us to use in the yearbook.  We are waiting for our yearbook company to make the link available to us.

Ordering School Lunch for Students:

Please note that Lunches are FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS.

Students learning remotely:

Students who are receiving instruction remotely, or their parents/guardians, may pick up meals (three to five meals at one time) for those days they are receiving remote instruction. Ordering ahead of time is required:

As with the Spring 2020 meal distribution, the pick-up location is near the Middle School’s rear entrance (Middle School Door C-3 that leads into the teachers’ lounge) via the Island Road entrance and taking the 1st left to go toward the back of the school. NB has established MONDAY and TUESDAY for pick up of meals. Meals may be picked up between the hours of 10:00 AM and 11:15 AM. For social distancing purposes, NB will limit the number of people entering the middle school facility at one time.

*We ask that you complete the Google Document for Remote Learning Students to sign up for these meals for pick up on Monday -Thursday.

Students present in the building:

When students are present in school, they will have the option to pre-order a grab and go lunch. Students or parents  will use the google form to order lunch selection by 8 AM for that day's pick up.

NHS TUTORING:

Is your child in need of some extra help?  NHS tutoring is here to assist!  Virtual tutoring will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30-2pm.  All you need to do is have the student who in need of help email the NHS adviser at jnewman@nburlington.com and then the student will receive a link to the virtual tutoring session.

2020 College Application Process for Seniors & their families:

Each year, the counseling department presents to parents of seniors about the College Application process. This year we have created a virtual presentation that can be viewed HERE. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s counselor directly. A chart of counseling assignments can be found HERE. If your student needs to speak with his/her counselor at any time throughout the year, they can do so by submitting a request using the request form or email.
