May 19:  PTSC Meeting:  Virtual at 7 pm (Zoom link to follow)

Good Afternoon:

Student Return: Monday, April 19 we will be welcoming back our inperson students four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) on the same half day schedule we have been using.   For those families that indicated their child would be attending in person, we will combine all of our in person cohorts and those students will attend school in person those four days.  For now, Wednesdays remain remote for all students, however we are planning on returning to five days a week beginning the week of May 10th (see the Q4 Calendar link above).

To ensure that this goes smoothly and we make the transition successfully, we continue to remind all families that it is important to abide by the CDC guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  If we all do our part, we can move to this next step seamlessly.

For those returning to school in person for the first time, please read the directions for how to complete the daily health screen using a smartphone or Chromebook at this LINK.  It will speed up students’ entry into the building if all students have this screening completed and the QR ready when they arrive at school.

Also, for those students returning to school in person, masks that conform to CDC guidelines are required at all times, including while riding the bus.

At this time we cannot accept any requests for students who are in cohort E (all remote) who now wish to attend in person.

We are looking forward to this next phase of our reopening process.

Bus Information:  If you need to confirm your student's bus stop and pick up time:

  • Please check under the transportation tab in the PowerSchool parent portal on the website, not the app.

  • The section labeled “Description” is the bus stop location

  • The section labeled “Departure” is the time the bus is scheduled to arrive at the stop.

  •  As always please be at the stop 10 minutes before and remain for 10 minutes after the

scheduled pick up time to allow for an early or late pick up.

Standardized Testing: On April 7, 2021, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) announced that, due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, the US Department of Education has approved New Jersey’s request to waive the spring administration of the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA). Instead of the Spring 2021 NJSLA, students will be tested using the “Start Strong” assessments in ELA, Math, and Science in the Fall of 2021. As a result, this letter is to notify you that the NJSLA will not be given during Spring 2021. The assessment waiver only applies to the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) statewide assessment program in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science. The NJDOE has advised that further guidelines regarding the “Start Strong” are forthcoming. We will provide you with updated information/guidance as we receive it from the NJDOE.

Spring Sports:  In-person practices will be starting on Monday, April 19, 2021. Schedules, cohorts and procedures will be communicated via the sport-specific google classrooms. If you have any questions regarding baseball, softball, boys/girls lacrosse, track or golf, please visit our coaches’ contact page:

New medical guidelines have been issued at the local and nationwide levels recommending any person who has been Covid-19 Positive or presumed (suspected) Covid-19 Positive must be medically cleared after COVID-19 infection and before participation in sports, gym, or any school physical activity as there is a risk of post-Covid cardiac complications.  Please contact the school nurse with any questions.

Ordering School Lunch for ALL Students 18 Years and Under:  Please note that Lunches are FREE FOR ALL YOUR STUDENTS through the month of June 2021

Message from the Middle School Nurse: Mrs. Theresa Pugliese, 609.298.3900,  ext. 4030

It is important to emphasize a few points with regard to health and safety.  Most importantly, students should not come to school if they are sick.  The remote option is available on a day to day basis if a student has any sick symptoms on in-person school days.

Unvaccinated travelers and residents returning from any U.S. state or territory beyond the immediate region (New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware) are required to quarantine:

  • Stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel if you do not get a COVID-19 test

  • Get tested with a viral test (not rapid) 3-5 days after your trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative

Please help keep our school environment safe & contact your school nurse for any questions about return to school dates.  For more information:

The New Jersey Department acknowledges COVID-19 infection among school children is often without any symptoms.  Therefore, the NJDOH recommends no student should attend school with any COVID-19 like symptoms until they have either received a negative COVID-19 Test OR  have completed a 10 day Isolation period including fever-free for 24 hours and sick symptoms resolved or improved.

Please continue to share any COVID-19 cases or exposures with our school nurses. We ask that you directly contact your student’s nurse as this information is critical for monitoring community incidence & planning for safely keeping our school open.
