MAJ Roy A. "RJ" Jefferson Jr.

Major Roy A. Jefferson Jr. is currently the 87th Logistics Readiness Squadron Director of Operations, Joint Base McGuire Dix, Lake-hurst, NJ, the Department of Defense’s only tri-service joint base. He currently runs the day-to-day operations for over 400 military and civilian personnel, providing unrivaled logistics support related to vehicles, supply parts, equipment, fuels management; and deployment planning and operations supporting 5 Wings and 88 Mission partners.

Major Jefferson entered the United States Air Force in March of 1999 as an Airman First Class, while attending Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio TX. Two months later, he attended Security Forces Training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio TX where he became a Security Forces Apprentice. Major Jefferson was later assigned to the 16th Security Forces Squadron, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), Hurlburt Field, FL where he had a myriad of positions that included Apprentice Security Forces Specialist, Pass and Registration Clerk, and Personnel Security Specialist. In August of 2006, he decided to pursue a commission through the Reserve Officer Training Commissioning Program at Fayetteville State University. In 2009 his first assignment was with the 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron where he held the positions of Officer in Charge of Deployment and Distribution, and Vehicle Maintenance Deputy Flight Commander. He was then selected as the Executive Officer for the 628th Mission Support Group Commander of Joint Base Charleston, SC. In 2011 he was given the opportunity to work for the 437th Aerial Port Squadron as the Combat Readiness Flight Commander and Ramp Operations Flight Commander where he was in charge of the Commander’s programs and deployment functions, and responsible for the Wing’s cargo movement. In 2012, Major Jefferson was assigned to Head Quarters Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Supply Chain Columbus, Land and Maritime, Columbus, OH, where he was the Chief of Demand Plans and Deputy Chief of Operations Division. In 2013, he was the Operations Officer for Detachment 6 at Al Udeid AB, Qatar where he was responsible for the United States Air Force’s largest war reserve materiel program, worth $3.8 Billion dollars in various assets. In 2015, Major Jefferson was assigned to the V-22 Program Office, Naval Air Station, Air Force Materiel Command, Patuxent River, MD, where he was the CV-22 Sustainment Manager. His organization is responsible for Souther Command’s number one ACAT-1C acquisitions program priority for the Air Force’s growing CV-22 fleet, valued at $9.2B. In 2018 Major Jefferson became the Chief of Logistics for the United States Air Force Expeditionary Center EC/A3, A4, A5 Directorate at Joint Base McGuire Dix-Lakehurst, Headquaters Air Mobility Command (AMC), NJ. As Chief of Logistics, Major Jefferson’s directorate is responsile for the Expeditionary Center’s logistics arm, which is to plan, assess, and monitor daily operations for Global Air Mobility Support System actions on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, his purview extends into the ability to advocate for operational optimization of the Expeditionary Center’s Airmen and assets by liasing wih Joint Services, AMC, 18th AF Staff and partnering units.

Lastly, Major Jefferson is married to the beautiful, Monika “Moni” Monique Jefferson of New Haven, CT. They have three children Amira 16, Zahara 12 and Tyberius 8.
