Dear Parents and Guardians:

Here are the weekly updates from the middle school:

Help Us Help You:  If you are watching the news, you know that COVID cases are on the rise in New Jersey(Burlington County is in high transmission).  If your child has symptoms, please keep them home. Our school nurse has no way of being able to tell if a cough, sore throat,  headache,  stuffy nose, or fever is a common cold or COVID.  As a result, students exhibiting these symptoms at school will be sent home and not allowed to return until they test negative for COVID.  It does not matter whether they are vaccinated or not.

NJDOH recommends that students stay home with:

Any one of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of smell or taste.

OR

Any two of the following symptoms: fever (measure or subjective), chills, rigors (shivers), muscle aches, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion, or runny nose;

If your child is kept home as a result of illness, please call the attendance line: 609.298.3900 x 4060.

So help us help you, if your child is ill, please keep them home.  Save yourself a trip to pick them up from school.

Any questions, please contact our school nurse.

Burlington County COVID Vaccination Sites: The CDC continues to recommend vaccination as the best way to prevent the spread of COVID.  Please see this flyer regarding more information on vaccination sites in Burlington County.  There is also a special vaccination/booster event on December 15, see this page for more information.

Spectators:  We appreciate anyone who wants to support our winter sports teams.  However, students who wish to watch one of the winter sports teams must go home and return with a responsible adult who stays with them while they watch an after school event.

Holiday Sweater:  December 17 is Ugly Holiday Sweater Day.  Even if you did not know there was such a day, we invite all of the students to wear their gaudy, but tasteful and school appropriate, holiday sweater to school on December 17.

Charging Chromebooks:  Please make sure your child is bringing his/her chromebook to school on a daily basis and that it is charged in the evening.  It’s 2021, coming to school without a charged chromebook is like coming to school in 1985 without a trapper keeper and a pencil.

Student Picture Packets:  The last of the student picture packets from our original picture day on October 19 arrived and were distributed in homeroom on Thursday and should be home by now..

A Dickens Christmas Carol:  Thanks to everyone who came out to this past weekend’s drama production of A Christmas Carol.  We topped even our 2019 attendance numbers for the winter play.  We appreciate all who came out to support the arts.

Harvard University and Princeton University Present: Go With The flow: A FESTIVAL ABOUT FLUIDS A Holiday Science Lecture for Children and their Families

Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1pm EST

Join us for a virtual celebration of fluids! Fluids are a part of our everyday lives - you can think about the water that flows from a faucet, the syrup you pour on pancakes, the winds and rains that are part of big storms. You can think about the air that flows out of the hole in a flat tire, or the hot candle wax you pour in a mold. We'll investigate some of these common fluids that are all around us, and then will then go into the lab and check out some not-so-everyday fluids that might behave strangely. The presentation is designed for children ages 7 and up and their families, but all are welcome to join and learn something new! More info and register here: https://sites.google.com/g.har...

Travel Quarantine Update:  While the CDC recommends delaying travel until individuals are fully vaccinated, New Jersey's travel advisory is no longer in effect.  Subsequently, mandatory post-travel quarantine is not required for domestic, out of state travel, within the United States.  Therefore, NB will recommend, but not require, that for 14 days after travel,  individuals self-monitor for COVID-19 compatible symptoms such as cough, breathing difficulties, loss of taste &/or smell,  fever, chills, shivers, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion, or runny nose, and isolate and get tested if any symptoms occur.

Clinical Corner Spotlight:

  • Northern Burlington has partnered with Effective School Solutions and will be hosting virtual staff/parent/community workshops.  Our next virtual sessions is:

    • Tuesday, December 14th at 3pm presented by: Monica Generoso, M.Ed.:  How to Talk to Your Kids and Survive: Raising a child is probably the most gratifying job any of us will ever have -- and one of the toughest. In large part, that's because times have changed. We live in an increasingly complex world that challenges us every day with a wide range of disturbing issues that are difficult for children to understand and for adults to explain. Our kids are part of the iGen or GenZ generation. The generation born with smartphones and tablets. Let’s talk about how we can talk to our kids and survive.  Please click the link to join via zoom: Presentation link OR use Meeting ID: 953 7367 8841   Passcode: 855772
