Student Vaccinations:  As a follow up to last week’s survey, there was not enough interest to warrant hosting a vaccine clinic at Northern Burlington.  However, vaccines remain readily available for anyone in New Jersey ages 12 and up.

Several options are available for appointments or for walk in sessions in our area..

  •  RWJ at Hamilton has appointments available at this LINK.

  • Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills has the following June Walk-In sessions open:

To search the NJ COVID-19 dashboard for places to receive the vaccine please check https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/vaccine

If a family needs assistance in scheduling a vaccine appointment, please contact our school nurse during school hours at 609-298-3900, x4030 or by email at tpugliese@nburlington.com.

If a student needs to miss school to get a vaccination or its side effects, please submit a copy of the vaccination card to the school nurse (tpugliese@nburlington.com) for the absence to be excused.

Please continue to share any COVID-19 cases or exposures with our school nurses. We ask that you directly contact your student’s nurse as this information is critical for monitoring community incidence & planning for safely keeping our school open.

Summer Assignments:  NB’s Program of Studies includes formal Summer Assignments for Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses in  the high school.

All summer assignments will be available on the High School Summer Assignment section of the Website by June 14.  Please contact the director of the department with content related questions or your student’s counselor with placement questions.

We do encourage summer learning for all of our students.  Here is a LINK to different suggested activities, particularly in language arts and mathematics.

Chromebooks:  Middle school students should plan to keep their chromebooks through the end of the school year.

  • For students who are signing out to go to a different school, the chromebook and charger will need to be returned prior to being able to withdraw and have records transferred.

  • For seventh graders (Class of 2026), the chromebook issued this year will be the same chromebook they will use next year in eighth grade.  Seventh graders should plan to bring that chromebook with them when school begins in September.

  • For eighth graders (Class of 2025), the chromebook issued this year will be collected and a new one issued for use in ninth grade.  Look for a message this summer for times and locations to return the chromebook and be issued a new one for high school.  It is anticipated that this will take place in August and be done out of the middle school.  Look for further communications about this during the summer.

Message from the Middle School Nurse: Mrs. Theresa Pugliese, 609.298.3900,  ext. 4030 tpugliese@nburlington.com

Please continue to keep your student home for any sick symptoms.  The remote option is available on a day to day basis if a student is ill on school days.

NJ Travel Advisory:  The latest New Jersey travel advisory can be found here:  As of 5/17,  the NJ Travel Advisory is no longer in effect for fully vaccinated individuals.

Clinical Corner Spotlight: Paving the Road to Recovery with Self Care:  As summer approaches, Americans are awakening from our collective nightmare, COVID-19.  The process of recovery from a prolonged state of fight-or-flight will be gradual, and this summer is the ideal time for students and their families to focus on self-care.  Parents of school-age children have had some of the highest stress levels since the beginning of the pandemic. The usual recommendations to eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, and exercise regularly are a good place to start.  Take a vacation if possible.  Click the link for the full publication on ideas for parents to consider:  Summer Self-care of Parents

Group Counseling for students: NOW ENROLLING FOR SUMMER SESSIONS:  We are excited to announce that Northern Burlington School District has recently collaborated with First Children Services (FCS) to provide therapeutic mental health services; group counseling to students.  This is a free 6-week group (in-person) where students will engage with a licensed clinician and their peers to discuss various topics in a safe space such as: anxiety/stress management, emotional regulation, gaining self-awareness, self-esteem, friendship and relationship issues, communication skills, academic progress, conflict resolution, social skills, adjustment to school, etc.  This partnership will enable students who meet the program criteria the opportunity to access these important services on school grounds.  If you are interested in having your child participate or have questions about the group, please contact your child’s School Counselor right away.  Limited spaces available, deadline is June 11th. Transportation is available as needed.
