SPRING INSPIRATION WITH FLOWERS

KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS WITH A TWIST
Course No. S0002
Learn how to coast on, knit purl and bind off. We will learn the basic garter stitch. Our first project will be a scarf. Materials needed for the first class will be 8 oz. Yarn sport or bulky, 10 ½ needles (plastic, metal or wooden). Also, a short demonstration on the first night, spinning on a wheel – how to make your own yarn. This is basic knitting course, but you will also learn how to make your own yarn on a spinning wheel.

CROCHET

In this course, beginners will learn basic crochet stitches: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet. Also, learn increasing and decreasing, changing colors, and pattern reading. For all other levels, advanced stitches will be taught, and you will work on a project of your choosing under the guidance of the instructor.
Come learn the beautiful art of crochet! All levels welcome!
Materials: For new crocheters, please bring $6 to instructor at the first class (for hook and 1 skein of yarn). Material lists for the other beginner projects will be provided.
For all other levels, please bring a pattern for the project you would like to work on, as well as all materials needed for that pattern.

CAKE DECORATING

You’ll learn what it takes to turn an ordinary cake into an extraordinary cake when you start with the basics. Instructions will include techniques with decorating tips, paste color and butter cream icing. Create special borders, swirls, leaves, and fancy flourishes. PILATES

Imagine an exercise program that you look forward to, that engages you, and that leaves you refreshed and alert with a feeling of physical and mental well-being. The Pilates Method (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) of body conditioning will do all this...and more. The Pilates method isn't about high repetitions or strain. It is a fitness regimen that combines stretching and strengthening routines designed to work the entire body efficiently, in natural and fluid dance-like movements. You work with your body, not against it. Pilates concentrates on isolating and simultaneously working muscles to improve flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk. AMERICAN RED CROSS BABYSITTER’S TRAINING

This popular course gives 11-15 year olds the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Through video, activities and hands-on practice, participants learn to respond to emergencies and illnesses, make decisions under pressure, understand stages of childhood development, recognize safety issues, manage young children safety, and feed, diaper and care for infants. Participants also receive tips on professionalism, including communicating with parents, respecting diversity, and exercising good business practices. Shall We Dance? Of course! Because our techniques make learning to dance fun and easy for everyone to learn. Unlike the movies or television shows, there is no emphasis on competition. We want you to feel confident to get up on the dance floor at any social gathering. This course is geared toward those with little or no dancing experience and will include the basic steps in Fox Trot, Waltz, Tango, Jitterbug and Latin Dancing. INTRODUCTION TO FEDERAL/NJ STATE INCOME TAX PREPARATION

Learn to prepare both Federal and NJ State income taxes. You will learn the various sections comprising the Federal 1040 (US Individual Income Tax Return) i.e. income, adj. gross income, tax and credits, other taxes, and payments and refunds. Also, the accompanying schedules that apply to the return, (Schedule A Itemized Deductions, Schedule B Interest and Ordinary Dividend Income and more) will be examined. The preparation of the simpler Federal 1040 EZ and the 1040A will be covered as well. Additionally the course will include the preparation of the NJ-1040 Resident Return by reviewing and analyzing the various sections of the form.

The course will cover infrastructure, nutrition, breeding management, and preparing fleeces fro the fiber market. During the fourth session, students will visit Stormwind Alpacas in Springfield Township for a “hands-on” lesson with the animals. The course is designed for serious breeders as well as for those interested in fiber herd.
